Friendswood LB taking his time

Friendswood (Texas) High School linebacker Will Ebner had a breakout sophomore season before suffering a knee injury that kept him out of action his junior season.
He's back.

The 6-foot-1, 225-pound linebacker is ready to get back on the field with his teammates, who have been together since middle school.
"We've been together for so long," he said. "We were undefeated in junior high and won district during our freshman year. We were broken up after that, playing different levels and now we are back together. We have very high expectations for this season, but we have to focus on winning one game at a time and staying healthy."
Friendswood's Class of 2008 will also produce Division I prospects in defensive tackle Blake Sargent (Houston-commit), offensive linemen Cameron Kaufhold and Luke Landers, and receiver Mathew McLaren.
Ebner has Division I offers from Houston, Northwestern and Alabama-Birmingham to date. He is also being pursued by TCU, Arizona and LSU.
"I'm pretty open now," he said.
His brother, Jake Ebner, plays tight end/fullback for the Cougars.
"I definitely have interest in Houston," he said. "I'm really familiar with the program."
