Friendly sleeper begins to get noticed

Fort Washington (Md.) Friendly is home to a handful of top prospects in the 2008 recruiting class. One name not heard of yet though is 5-foot-10, 212-pound safety James Stanfield.
"I'm getting recruited by Virginia and have verbal offers from Duquesne and Liberty," he stated. "Virginia told me if I come to camp they may offer, but I wasn't able to go because of my knee. Their coaches said they are going to keep an eye on me and contact me sometime soon."

One other college showing interest at this time is Connecticut.
Does Stanfield have a favorite?
"Right now I'd say it is Duquesne and Liberty since they have been in touch for a long time," he said. "I'm looking at everyone and just trying to find good academics and football."
The Maryland safety is just now coming into the recruiting picture after a knee injury last season.
"I only played in about seven games before I blew my knee out," he said. "It's good now and at full strength, but my coaches don't want me to play yet so that I can participate in camp."
In the seven games he played last season, Stanfield registered 65 tackles.
