Friday names VT his leader

Hampton (Va.) defensive end Stephen Friday took an official visit to Virginia Tech last weekend with teammate Elan Lewis. Friday got a chance to see the Hokies first hand and came away impressed by Tech’s overwhelming 63-0 victory over the Broncos.
“I had a great time in Blacksburg,” explained Friday. “The crowd just goes crazy when the team takes the field and they don’t let up once the game starts. It wasn’t much of a game though, but I enjoyed being there.”

Friday’s Phoebus teammate Lewis eventually committed to the Hokies following the conclusion of the weekend.
“His commitment won’t affect my decision at all,” admitted Friday. “I will say that the experience has moved Tech up as my leader.”
Friday is also seriously considering three other schools in North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Syracuse.
“I plan on taking official visits to each of those schools before reaching a decision,” stated Friday. “I may take a fifth visit, but I’m not sure where just yet. I’ve got seven offers right now, so I have some options.”
Maryland, UCLA, and Virginia are vying for that fifth and final official visit if Friday takes one. Friday does not plan to take any other official visits during the season as any additional visits would conflict with his season too much to take a full weekend away from the program.
Phoebus won its season opener two weeks ago, but Friday missed the game due to a minor knee sprain. The all-state defensive end will see the field for the first time this Friday as Phoebus takes on Kecoughtan.
