Freeman is head of the pack
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Evidence of talent at the first Rivals.com junior day was highlighted by the presence of Grandview, Mo., and quarterback Josh Freeman who looked the part of a Division I player - the type that is worthy of Rivals100 consideration.
Freeman's 6-foot-5, 226-pound frame has already turned heads and his success in the classroom makes him an even bigger prospect for 2006. With his offer count quickly increasing and a good experience at the junior day, this quarterback will not be rushed into a decision.

"I'm really trying to take my time with the process by keeping an open mind," Freeman said. "There was a lot of new stuff that I didn't know about dealing with how to handle all of the mail and phone calls the right way."
"I've got the grades to qualify no problem. Today, I found out again why it's so important."
Iowa State, who was the most recent to offer, has now added their name to the list with the likes of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. Regardless, Freeman has two of those schools out in front.
"Nebraska and Kansas are the favorites at this point," Freeman said. "I really like the coaching staffs at both schools and I felt the most comfortable at Nebraska when I went there a couple times last year."
Freeman is also listing Iowa and Missouri as other teams in the hunt for his services. However, the offer count will undoubtedly not stop there as Grandview coach Jason Jones has been flooded with calls.
"Notre Dame is probably going to be the next to offer the way it looks right now," Freeman said. "My coach says the phone won't stop ringing with schools calling."
While Freeman may have an early list of favorites along with a long list of suitors, he admits anything can happen in recruiting.
"There may be schools out there that I'm not really interested in at this time," he said. "No matter where I think I might be going, if a new school shows me that they are the best place for me, then that's where I might be going.
"To be honest, I am not even near a decision or anything right now."
Freeman's travel schedule looks to be just as busy in the coming months with a return trip to Nebraska's Elite Quarterback Camp, multiple team camps, and a probable return trip to a NIKE Football Training Camp.
With recruiting heating up for Freeman, he still maintains team goals for his senior season.
"We didn't do as well last year going 6-4, but we had young talent that is back for this season," he said. "It's all about doing big things and trying for state again."
