Freak Show: Top performers

Recruiting wrap: Campbell, who moved his decision date up to Aug. 3, is considering many schools. North Carolina is in the thick of things, but so are Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Auburn, Penn State, Ohio State, Maryland and Virginia.
Performance: There were some quality offensive linemen at the camp, but very few of them could slow Campbell down. He plays with great leverage and that only magnifies his impressive strength. Campbell didn't use many fancy pass rushing techniques, but he stays low and attacks half a man. His sheer strength, momentum and constant motor helped him have a lot of success.

DE
Tomon Fox
Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill
Recruiting wrap: Fox committed to North Carolina on Saturday night.
Performance: Fox is on the shorter side for a defensive end at 6-foot-3, but what he lacks in size he more than makes up for in speed. He consistently beat offensive linemen off the line of scrimmage and used a variety of hand techniques to keep offensive linemen off him. Fox has the athleticism to stand up and drop into coverage. That versatility should be something Gene Chizik takes advantage of.

RB
Khalan Laborn (2017)
Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes
Recruiting wrap: Nearly every major program in the country has offered Laborn. He will visit Florida State and Tennessee in July.
Performance:Laborn is one of the most natural athletes in the country. Almost everything he does seems almost effortless. None of the linebackers could cover Laborn in one-on-ones and he made some impressive catches near the sideline and down the field. He also showed of some of his quickness, making linebackers miss in the open field after the catch.

TE
Garrett Walston
Wilmington (N.C.) New Hanover
Recruiting wrap: North Carolina looks like one of Walston's favorites along with Georgia, N.C. State and many others.
Performance: Walston has a lot of progress to make physically, but he is very skilled. He ran crisp routes and his hands were pretty reliable. Walston has good straight line speed and is pretty explosive for his size. He created separation using his route running, not because he is exceptionally fast. Walston's length and size (6-4, 223) were probably his best assets.

QB
Logan Byrd
Kathleen (Ga.) Veterans High School
Recruiting wrap: Byrd is committed to North Carolina.
Performance: All of the wide receivers said Byrd had the strongest arm of any of the quarterbacks in attendance. He was consistently accurate and his mechanics were pretty crisp. It was good to see Byrd put touch on passes when needed and his down field accuracy had receivers jumping up in line trying to get paired with him.

WR
Diondre Overton
Greensboro (N.C.) Page
Recruiting wrap: Overton's two favorites are Clemson and Tennessee.
Performance: Overton is a special talent with a very high ceiling. He didn't take a ton of reps during one-on-ones, but he made some eye-popping plays. There was one play where he ran a post route but the quarterback led him a little too far. He used his long arms and sure hands to haul in the pass, kept his balance and turned up field to score, a play that other wide receivers would have had to dive for.
8
DE
Nick Coe
Asheboro, N.C.
Recruiting wrap: Coe has offers from Auburn, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and others.
Performance: Not many schools have offered Coe yet, but he is a big-time talent that will make an early impact in college. He plays with great leverage and has a very strong inside rip move that not many offensive linemen can stop. A champion wrestler, Coe will expand his arsenal of pass rushing moves and give offensive tackles nightmares.

RB
Tayon Fleet-Davis (2017)
Oxon Hill (Md.) Potomac
Recruiting wrap: West Virginia is the most recent offer for Fleet-Davis. He will visit Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia in July.
Performance: Fleet-Davis is a bigger back (5-11, 205), but is surprisingly quick and has good footwork. He was also a pretty reliable receiver. During one-on-ones, he made some tough catches with the defender hanging onto him. Fleet-Davis even hauled in some one-handed catches. Look for him to added a lot of offers over the next few months.
10
OL
Jonah Melton (2017)
Mebane (N.C.) Eastern Alamance
Recruiting wrap: Melton holds offers from South Carolina, Clemson, Miami, North Carolina and many others.
Performance: Melton is a hard-nosed lineman that did a good job of holding up against some of the big interior defensive linemen. Once he was able to lock his hands into the defensive lineman's chest, he could control where they went and stop their rush attempt. Melton's lateral quickness and patience are pretty advanced for a player his age.
11
LB
Jaleel Laguins
Watkinsville (Ga.) Oconee County
Recruiting wrap: Laguins holds a lot of major SEC offers as well as offers from Notre Dame, Oklahoma and many others.
Performance: Laguins had mixed results during one-on-ones, but his testing scores were very impressive. He had a broad jump of over 11-feet and posted a sub-4.5 time in the 40-yard dash. Laguins embodied the "freak" theme of the Freak Show. In the open field and drills, he moved very well and certainly showed that there is a lot for college coaches to work with.

DB
Tyler Tobias
Oxon Hill (Md.) Potomac
Recruiting wrap: Tobias holds offers from North Carolina Central, Albany, Bucknell and Mississippi Valley State.
Performance: A handful of smaller schools have offered Tobias but, despite being in the 5-foot-9 range, he played very well on Saturday night. He was very physical with wide receivers and had the hips to turn and run with them downfield. Tobias even held up well against jump balls. Tobias could stand to add more muscle, but there is no doubt he is worthy of more offers.
