Franklin close to big Pac-12 offer

Darrian Franklin is starting to see some more movement in his recruitment.
The 2016 four-star linebacker from Downey, Calif., landed his latest offer from Cal last week and now two other Pac-12 programs are showing more interest.

"I got offered by Cal on Wednesday night and I'm getting a lot of interest from Oregon and Arizona," Franklin said. "Oregon asked for my transcripts this week so I think they might be close to offering, too."
The offer from Cal is definitely an important one for Franklin, who also has Arizona State, Miami, UCLA, USC, Utah and Washington on his offer list.
Franklin, rated as the ninth-best outside linebacker and No. 109 in the 2016 class by Rivals.com, said he likes Cal's educational opportunities and that the program seems to be turning around quickly.
"They're recruiting me as an outside linebacker and I like them a lot because of their academics and they're starting to come up as a program," Franklin said. "I could see myself playing there early."
An offer from Oregon would definitely be huge for the 2016 prospect. He said Oregon is one of his favorite programs and that if an offer comes he would have to seriously consider it although it's still in the early stages of his recruitment.
"That would be really big," Franklin said. "That's one of my top, top schools. That's really up there so that would be really exciting."
It's still early in Franklin's recruitment so he's just taking his time, playing through his junior season and then will focus on the process later on. The Downey standout plans to take unofficial visits to USC and UCLA soon and he could be at the Trojans' game against Oregon State this weekend.
"They're still up there," Franklin said of USC and UCLA. "I'm planning to go to some games. I'm going to the SC game this week probably."
