It is done. Erick Fowler is a Texas Longhorn.
There has been a lot of talk and speculation and over the last month leading to Signing Day it has reached a fever pitch. Would the five-star linebacker flip to Texas or stick with LSU.
Depending on the day or even the hour the answer or feel might be different, but on Signing Day Fowler ended the talk and put pin to paper.
RIVALS’ REACTION: There was a lot of talk about Fowler’s possible flip so it is not a complete surprise, but it is absolutely huge for Charlie Strong and Texas. Fowler is the No. 2 player in Texas and a five-star recruit. He is an Austin-area standout and a big down to the wire win over the LSU and the SEC. He is also a dynamic defensive difference maker, but more on that below.
PROSPECT ANALYSIS: Fowler first became known as a speed guy off the edge who drives through tackles and delivers punishing hits. However, he has proven to be more than that. He can come off the edge, he is strong in coverage, he has the size and ability to move inside, and he has a nose for the football. He has also added some nice bulk to his frame and maintained his explosive presence. On the college level he projects as an outside linebacker, but he can definitely do damage at several different spots on the field.
