Fourth three-star joins Memphis commit list

Memphis has added another solid prospect early to its 2011 recruiting class. Regis Ball out of Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson is the fourth public commitment for the Tigers and the fourth three-star to join the fold.
Ball, an outside linebacker at one of the most talented programs in the southeast, chose the Tigers over offers from Southern Miss, MTSU, Marshall and Buffalo. The decision came about two weeks ago.

"I called them a while back," Ball said. "It was after spring and I thought about everything I had on the table and for me that would've been the best bet right there and that was the most comfortable position and I called them and I let them know how I felt about it."
Though he has yet to visit the campus in person, Ball likes what he hears about the program and hopes to get to the campus this summer. He even thinks there may be potential that he finishes his career in a different conference, but still at the same school.
"Out of all the offers I had, I had some other good offers, but as far as interest and the whole program, I like what [Larry Porter] was doing up there," he said. "And they're fixing to move to the Big East so that played big into it. So that's the perfect fit for me right now."
Though Ball hasn't been to many camps this spring and summer he was a top performer at the Tuscaloosa Nike Camp as an undersized but quick linebacker. He projects as an outside linebacker or strong safety at Memphis.
Though he is excited to be part of the Memphis class, he will continue to keep his options open.
"I'm open," he said. "As of right now I'm pretty much locked in but if something comes up of course I'm going to be open to it but besides that, I'm pretty much locked in."
