Four-star Zwinak makes a decision

Rivals250 running back Zach Zwinak out of Frederick (Md.) Linganore made his college choice earlier today. Head coach Richard Conner filled in Rivals.com on the announcement.
"Zach got it down to five schools, North Carolina, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and Penn State," he said. "Then it was just Virginia Tech and Penn State that he was picking between.

"He wanted to make a choice by 9/11. He was ready to go and then just got caught up with our game and practices. He was out over the weekend and he finally caught up with Coach Johnson today with the news. He called him and told him he was playing football at his school."
What made Zwinak pick the Nittany Lions?
"It wasn't anything too specific," he said. "I think it was just that he's been up there a couple times and he felt really comfortable in their two-back offense. I think he liked the fact they do spread it out a bit and he feels he can be that type of back. He just liked Penn State."
Penn State's recruiter, Larry Johnson was important in the pick.
"He did a great job recruiting him to Penn State," he said. "Virginia Tech was the same way though. They didn't pressure Zach. They let him go on his own timetable."
Penn State has recruited the four-star prospect as a running back/fullback.
Conner discussed what Penn State is getting in his star prospect.
"They're getting an absolutely explosive kid," he said. "You've never seen anything like it. He's a throwback a bit. He leaves the field and he's the dirtiest kid out there. He has more grass stains than anybody. He plays as hard as anybody and he's a kid that gives everything he's got."
