Four-star Zach Carter could move up commitment date

Zachary Carter’s top two schools have rarely been in doubt.

Florida and Clemson are, by far, the two most likely landing spots for the Rivals100 defensive end. He’s been high on both programs forever and planned to choose one or the other sometime after his senior season. But while the suitors remain the same, the timetable may be changing.

“I’ve been telling people I ‘m going to commit after the season,” the Florida-based Carter said. “I think I may change it and commit to before the season now.”

That quote, when paired with a recent Tweet from Carter, seems to indicate that his decision could be coming down in the coming month or two.

IN HIS WORDS: “I spent a week at Clemson, yeah, but I still like Florida a lot,” Carter said. “At Clemson, like, I can feel the family environment. With Florida, it’s only two hours away. That really helps them. I don’t really care about distance, but it’s a nice perk.”

RIVALS REACTION: Carter recently spent roughly a week at Clemson, but plans to visit Florida soon. It seems like the Gators may have a little bit of room to make up in the race to land Carter. UF will need to make up that ground during the defensive end’s upcoming visit. It’s certainly possible, however, as the gap doesn’t appear to be wide.
