Four-star WR taking unofficial visits

Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst wide receiver D.J. Hord is one of the nation’s top wide receivers and he’s been on the go quite a bit lately.
“There are not really any new schools,” the 6-foot-1, 195-pound Hord said. “It’s been about the same schools calling and writing as I’ve been getting.”

With Rockhurst having the week off last weekend, the four-star rated receiver was able to hit the road and take an unofficial visit to one of the schools he knows he will visit.
“I went on an unofficial to LSU last weekend,” he said. “I liked it a lot. They had a nice campus. The spirit at the game was incredible. We drove down Friday. We didn’t play so that let us get going early to make it. We went to the game and had a good time.”
The trip to Baton Rouge was the first for Hord, but he isn’t waiting long to take another trip.
“I’m going to Notre Dame this weekend,” he said. “We play on Thursday and I’ll go up this weekend on Friday and be there for the game. Our schedule is really working out well for me to get to these two places.”
While Hord hasn’t lined up any official visits yet, the nation’s No. 12 rated wide receiver is close to beginning that process.
“I’ve been talking to my parents about visits and we’ve kind of decided that in about two weeks I’ll start to narrow things down a little bit. I know I will visit LSU for sure. I’m probably going to visit Notre Dame and Oklahoma, too. And the three local schools, Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri are definitely in the mix.”
On the season, Hord has helped lead Rockhurst to a 2-1 record. He has hauled in 17 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns.
“Blue Springs beat us in the opener,” he said. “Then we’ve won the other two. Then Blue Springs lost a game last week, so we know the state race is back open again. We just need to stay on our path, and we’ll be fine.”
