Four-star WR sets visits

Shreveport Evangel Christian wide receiver Tristen Ross has been caught in a frenzy of activity from coaches across the country since his decision to decommit from Oklahoma a little over a month ago.
The first day that coaches could begin calling prospects again after the dead period was Sept. 1 and he has already received too many calls to count.

He has only been able to talk to two coaches so far, Texas’ Mack Brown and Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops, and after speaking with the two Big 12coaches, he decided to set up official visits to their respective schools.
Ross will visit Austin, Texas, on the weekend of Dec. 13 and Oklahoma on Nov. 2 when the Sooners play Colorado.
The Evangel season will begin on Friday when they travel to Longview, Texas, for their season opener. The team did play their annual Jamboree scrimmage this past weekend. The game is only two quarters in length, but Ross made the most of the short game.
“I had four catches for 139 yards and three touchdowns (29, 63, 27),” Ross said. “We played Natchitoches, Louisiana.”
Ross is also working on setting up a visit to Texas Tech and will in all likelihood have the plans settled by tomorrow.
“Chad (Johnson) and I are probably heading up there together,” Ross said. “We’re going to talk about it tomorrow.”
Ross said that he does not have a clear leader and that his top four all stand at the same level in his mind. His top four is Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech and Michigan.
“I really like Texas and Oklahoma,” he said.
Tennessee has been a school that many had thought had as good a chance as any to get a commitment from the standout receiver.
“Tennessee is definitely not out of the picture,” Ross said. “They called yesterday, but I wasn’t here to talk with them.”
The 6-1, 190-pound receiver is ranked as a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, the No. 20 receiver in the nation and the No. 9 prospect in Louisiana regardless of position.
