Four-star WR reviews Cal visit

Lavan Alston had a nice visit to Cal this past weekend - and the four-star wide receiver sees a lot of opportunity to play early on for the Golden Bears.
Cal has already offered the Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure receiver and after watching practice, talking with coach Sonny Dykes and seeing that a lot of receivers are going to be gone by the time he gets there all played a big role in Alston liking the program this much.

"We left on Friday and we got there on Saturday and we stayed for the whole practice," Alston said. "We watched them hit a little bit. I think it was their first day actually hitting.
"I talked a little bit to coach Sonny Dykes in his office with my parents. It was a really cool visit. I enjoyed it a lot.
"He said they were going to recruit me very hard. They enjoyed my film, they like the type of player I am and they think I could be an impact player when I enter college."
The 5-foot-11, 173-pound prospect who looked good at the recent RCS Southern California sees an opening at wide receiver in Berkeley and that could play a big factor as his recruitment continues.
Alston sees Dykes rebuilding the program even after a rough 1-11 season and that's another reason why he's seriously considering the Golden Bears.
"All their receivers right now are juniors so I do have the possibility if I go out there and work hard and beat out everybody I have to I could start as a freshman," Alston said. "They're not going to have a lot of receivers, they're all juniors and becoming seniors. That is exciting to hear.
"I do realize due to some injuries and the new coaching staff, he's rebuilding that program. I'm going to see how they do this year during the season and hopefully they do well."
So far, Alston has been offered by Arizona, Arizona State, Boston College, Cal, Oregon State, Penn State, Vanderbilt, Washington and Washington State.
The Ventura St. Bonaventure receiver is expected to visit Oregon and Oregon State later this month. Trips to Arizona and Arizona State are also being worked on. Utah has shown a lot more interest and could be next to offer.
