Four-star WR Ezzard recaps Ole Miss visit

Ole Miss was the first school to offer Marquez Ezzard almost two years ago and they could be the one he signs with February 7.

The 6-foot-1, 200 pound wide receiver out of Stockbridge (Ga.) is down to Ole Miss and Miami. Both schools will send their head coaches into his home later this week and the Rebels may have some momentum.

Ezzard was in Oxford over the weekend and he sounded very upbeat about his time there.

"Me and my family had a great time at Ole Miss," said Ezzard. "We enjoyed our time around the coaches, we got the full tour and we saw everything."

This was Ezzard's fourth visit to Ole Miss, so he has a great feel for things there. He has gotten to the know the coaches well and that connection just got stronger.

"I was with all of the coaches all weekend. It wasn't just one or two, but it was all of them. We got to hang out, talk to each other and they are just all cool guys.

"We did not even talk much about football at all, all weekend, but we talked about life and things like that. I loved my time with them and they are just great guys."

Without hesitation, when the four star was asked about what stood out most about his visit, it was the coaches. The players though were also brought up.

Ezzard connected with them too.

"I hung out with AJ Brown, Kendarious Webster (from same high school) and a lot of other guys," said Ezzard. "We talked about the school and the life there — it was great.

"The players made me feel like I was already part of the team. They all welcomed me and it was great being around them."

One 2018 signee Ezzard has gotten close to is Rivals 100 quarterback Matt Corral. They talk daily and Corral being a Rebel really helps their chances with Ezzard.

"Me and Matt have gotten really close. We have been talking every day for a while now. He recruits me, he wants me there with him and he says we can do big things there together.

"Him being at Ole Miss helps them with me a lot. I would love to play with him and he is a good guy, he is a great quarterback and we know each other well."

The coaches have to like the sound of that. What the coaches have done — the way they have recruited Ezzard — it has put them in a good spot.

"This visit really does help Ole Miss with me," said Ezzard. "I just like how the coaches are and how they care about me. They want me to do well off the field, they want me to do well in the classroom and I like that a lot.

"They made me feel important — very important. All of the coaches text me or call me every day, so I know they want me there."

Ezzard said the Rebels and the Hurricanes are "even" and that their is no leader. And as hard as Ole Miss is recruiting him, he said Miami is recruiting him equally as hard.

He will trip to Coral Gables this weekend. That is after he visited with Mark Richt Wednesday and Matt Luke Thursday. Will Miami make Ezzard feel the way Ole Miss did?

"Ole Miss set the bar high for sure," said Ezzard. "I had a great time, so now I have to see what it is like at Miami."

A signing day decision is Ezzard's plan. He does not plan to commit before then.
