Four-star thrilled by new offer

Devon Allen has been picking up some major offers and another huge one came through Tuesday when Notre Dame offered the four-star wide receiver from Phoenix (Ariz.) Brophy Prep.
"I got a message on Facebook, I talked to them and they offered," Allen said. "They're going to send a letter, that's something they do when they offer so I should be getting that in the mail.

"That's definitely huge. They have great tradition, it's a great education and a beautiful campus so you can't really be mad with all that in the package."
Allen, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect who finished with 44 receptions for 844 yards and 14 touchdowns in his junior season, has a counselor at Brophy Prep who's a Notre Dame graduate so the four-star has heard lots about the school already.
Next for Allen is to figure out how Notre Dame envisions him in the offense.
"I definitely want to see how they'd use me," Allen said. "That will play a factor when I decide where I'm going to college.
"I'm really interested in the tradition and the stories behind everything. My counselor went to Notre Dame and he's always telling me stories and telling me about the campus and the tradition and that's special. You can't go to too many places around the country and find places like that.
"If I were to right now pick my five official visits that would definitely be one of them. I can't really make my decision on what school I'm going to visit until I complete my SAT and see how my paperwork goes though."
Allen had a chance last weekend to take an unofficial visit to Washington during his time in Seattle for a track meet.
Rated as the No. 110 prospect in the early 2013 rankings by Rivals.com, Allen said that visit went well and the Huskies will definitely be considered through his recruitment.
"It went great," Allen said. "I've never been to the campus so it was amazing. It's a beautiful area. The facilities and the football offices are brand-new. It wasn't really raining and it wasn't that cold, it was just beautiful.
"It was nice. I really enjoyed it. I got to meet some of the coaches. I didn't visit for too long because I only had four hours of free time but it was still a good visit and kind of opened my eyes to Washington and that campus."
So far, Allen lists offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Colorado State, Duke, Michigan, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Purdue, Stanford, UCLA, Vanderbilt and Washington.
