Four-Star TE Setting Trips

Washington (D.C.) Dunbar tight end Vernon Davis has had a clear leader for quite some time now and he's getting closer to setting the visits that will decide where he ends up.
"Maryland is my favorite because it's close to home and I really like coach Friedgen," said the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder who could play tight end or wide receiver in college. "I'm going to visit there in November sometime. I don't think I'll commit because I want to see some other places, but you never know."

Davis said that one team could change his mind about Maryland and a few others might sneak in as well.
"Virginia is second and if anyone is going to knock Maryland off, it's probably them," he said. "I like the coaches there a lot and they're close to becoming one of the top teams in the country. It looks like I'll visit there in December and I also would like to visit Michigan, Tennessee, Florida or Pitt."
Davis is in the middle of setting his official visits and would like to take in a game at Tennessee (maybe the Miami game) and at Michigan. Florida and Pitt will battle for his last trip if he decides to take one.
"I'd like to stay somewhat close to home so that's why Maryland and Virginia have the edge," he said. "They both have great offensive potential."
Although he's missed three games with a bone bruise on his leg, Davis has five touchdown receptions and has returned a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown. He'd like to decide by Christmas.
