IN HIS OWN WORDS...

"I picked Penn State because of my relationship with the coaching staff and my relationship with Z Mac (Zechariah McPhearson)," Castro-Fields said. "I’ll have a chance to play early and I’m not going that far away but it is still away from home.

"I’ll get a great education and Penn State has a great network," he said. "I aspire to go to the NFL but if that doesn’t work out I’ll still have a network outside of football. That’s one of the main reasons.

"They play big time football and they’re in a hard division," said Castro-Fields. "I’ll be playing great talent all the time and that will get me ready.

"I’m really comfortable with the coaches," he said. "I just need to dive into the playbook once I get it. I’ll come in physically and mentally ready so I’ll just need to learn the playbook. I feel like I’ll be able to assist in any way."

RIVALS' REACTION

Penn State is really closing out the 2017 recruiting cycle in a big way. Landing Castro-Fields will bring some much needed length to their secondary and his versatility will give the coaches some flexibility with personnel groupings. It's also very important for Penn State to continue to keep pipelines open in the DMV and Castro-Fields' commitment will certainly do that.
