Four-star solid in commitment to Kansas but open to taking visits
MIAMI -- Corione Harris doesn’t seem distracted.
The four-star defensive back is at peace with his commitment to Kansas and doesn’t have plans to make a massive visit tour. Things between the Louisiana product and the Jayhawks stand on firm footing. That’s not to say he won’t listen to other pitches, though.
Harris isn’t actively seeking out other opportunities, but he also isn’t cutting off contact with other programs.
“Everybody that offered is still talking to me,” Harris said. “That’s never changed. Everyone that was trying to recruitment me is still trying.”
His attitude toward other suitors is relaxed. He’s not making concrete plans to travel and he doesn’t name off a long list of schools when asked which coaches talk to him most often. Instead, he tosses out a couple names and pushes forward with a see-what-happens outlook.
“Mississippi State and Indiana are probably talking the most,” Harris said. “I haven’t visited Indiana yet, but I might. I mean, I’ll go anywhere. “I don’t really know. I’m just looking for whatever. I’ll decide on visits later.”
Harris would rather discuss his relationship with the Kansas coaching staff and the plans being hatched for him upon his arrival in Lawrence. These days, his conversations with the KU staff are football-focused.
“They’re just telling me how I fit the scheme,” Harris said. “They also tell me that if they recruit what they want and get what they want, how I’ll fit. They’re telling me that they are basically expecting a big role for me when I get there.”
Harris, who attends Louisiana’s Landry-Walker High School, is the No. 10 cornerback and the No. 70 overall prospect in the class of 2018.
RIVALS REACTION: As things stand, Harris seems solidly committed to Kansas. He’s not in a rush to tour other campuses and seems genuinely excited about the opportunities afforded to him in Lawrence. Logic suggests that KU won’t keep its entire haul of Louisiana players until Signing Day, but the Jayhawks are also unlikely to lose the entire thing. Harris seems like one of the more likely candidates to stick.
