Daryl Johnson continues to maintain his recruitment is "wide
open" as his prep career winds down.
Johnson has helped lead O.P. Walker (9-1) into the
Louisiana Class 4A playoffs by scoring 14 touchdowns and intercepting 11
passes, cementing him as one of the hottest prospects in the South this
season, but he says a favorite still hasn't re-emerged on his list.
"It's all wide open, all up in the air right now
until I get my season finished," said Johnson, who had previously been on
record listing Miami as his top school and favorite team growing up. "I'm
kind of looking at five teams right now, but none of them are above the
others."
Those teams are Miami, LSU, Florida, Tennesee and
Alabama. He said they hold the edge for his official visits when the time
comes to schedule them. He has yet to set any dates, contrary to some
previous reports.
"My coach is helping me with that, and we don't have
any of them right now," he said.
"Florida is probably recruiting me the hardest right
now," he added. "I hear from them more than anybody. They tell me they need
a lot of help at safety, that there's a good opportunity for me to step in
and get a lot of playing time."
Johnson (6-1, 195, 4.49) is a member of the Rivals.com
Southeast
Top 100 team and the No. 14 safety in the nation. He
currently has 31 career interceptions.
