Four-star safety getting ready for season

College coaches have been trying to reach Belleview (Fla.) safety Cody Wells but the 6-foot, 180 pound athlete hasn't been home to take their calls. Wells is one of the top recruits in the state and was named second team All-State last year as a running back after rushing for 1,205 yards on 108 carries.

"I haven't really had a chance to talk to any of them because we weren't at home but I had a lot of messages," Wells said. "I know Florida State called."
Wells hasn't scheduled any official visits yet and hasn't added any recent offers. So far his offer count stands at three-- Florida State, UCF, and South Carolina.
"Nebraska, Colorado, and Florida still say how they're going to recruit me but still no offers from them," Wells said.
Does he have any favorite schools maybe?
"Right now my favorites are whoever is going to offer," Wells said. "I don't really have any favorites as of now until I actually get to make my official visits. My favorites would probably the top five that offer me. I do want to take some official visits because I do want to see what's out there. I don't want to cut it short. I really want to take a chance and look at the campus."
Like many other recruits, Wells plans on being in Gainesville this weekend. He also hopes to see a game at Florida State in the near future.
"I was going to head to the Florida game against UAB but I decided to wait a week to see them against Miami," Well said. "I'll probably head to Florida State and try to catch a game in September."
Wells and his Belleview teammates are getting ready for the first game of the season this week against Jacksonville-Trinity Christian.
"I know they were runner-ups last year," Wells said. "From what I heard they're pretty stout. They're only 1A but they've got some people. They've got an awesome linebacker and a running back that's just like a junior this year. They've got a lot of talent."
Cody's older brother Kolby is a redshirt sophomore linebacker at Michigan.
