AUSTIN — Lancaster (Texas) four-star safety Corian Gipson was one of the many football talents in action this past weekend at the Texas Relays held on the campus of the University of Texas.

His track season has been weaved within a busy visit season that has seen him see some contenders while also seeing some programs that have entered the mix among his top schools in the time since.

One program that has made a major push has been Clemson as his visit to campus in late March earned him an offer and raised his interest level to sky-high in the Tigers.

"Clemson is family-oriented," Gipson said. "The atmosphere is great, the vibes are good. The coaching staff is real stable. They've been there for 17 years, the DB coach has been there for 11 years. They take it serious."

A conversation with new offensive coordinator Garrett Riley stood out from his time at Clemson as Riley gets settled in to his new role after spending three seasons in DFW as offensive coordinator at both SMU and TCU.

"I talked to Coach Riley who came from TCU, and that's where I'm from, I'm from Fort Worth," he said. "Talking to him and seeing how it was moving from there all the way to South Carolina (stood out)."

Gipson will return to Clemson for the Tigers' spring game on April 15 and for his official visit on June 2. He will then head to Alabama on June 9 for his official visit in Tuscaloosa where the staff has stood out top-to-bottom for the Tide.

"They're real straight, they stand out," he said. "The coaching staff won't sugarcoat, they tell you how it is. I could see a lot of their coaches being head coaches at other schools too."

Texas is also on the official visit docket for June 23 as the in-state power's receiver room has Gipson excited about his potential development in Austin.

"Them having one of the best 2023 classes," Gipson said. "Having good receivers like Johntay (Cook) and all of the other receivers they have coming in, competing with them will make me better."

As for the next step in his recruitment, Gipson could be ready to shut it down altogether soon.

"I have a top five coming soon and I have a commitment coming soon too," he said.

At 5-foot-11, 170 pounds, Gipson is ranked as the No. 88 recruit in the country for the class of 2024, according to Rivals. He is the No. 6 ranked safety in the country and the No. 13 recruit from the state of Texas.
