THE LATEST: A one-time Oregon State commit, class-of-2018 running back Camron Davis is now the owner of scholarship offers from both FBS schools in the Beaver State. Newly hired Oregon coach Willie Taggart’s staff made thins official with the Carol City (Fla.) High School running back on Monday, and it seems Davis was already well versed with the program’s reputation.

Just how the offer will figure into Davis’ recruitment down the line in unknown. But, in the moment, it seemed significant.

“I’m a fan of the Oregon Ducks,” Davis said on Monday. “That’s a talented team and they run the kind of offense I like. A lot of my favorite players went there; De'Anthony Thomas LaMichael James, Jonathan Stewart, LeGarrette Blount.”

Ducks assistant Donte Pimpleton is spearheading Davis recruitment for the program, and Davis says the added connection to South Florida will function as a plus for the Oregon’s recruitment efforts in the region.

“It’s great with Taggart being out there now, it’s like he was at USF,” he said.

IN HIS WORDS: “Oregon is high on my list, with schools like Tennessee, South Carolina, Louisville, Oregon State, Georgia and West Virginia.”

RIVALS REACTION: Davis committed to Oregon State without ever setting foot on the campus, so his quick commitment never stood much of a chance. These days, the uncommitted four-star running back is taking a more measured approach. It’s much too early to project where Davis might land, as his offer list will likely change in the year ahead.
