Xavier Williams' recruitment isn’t much different than that of most underclassman stars. He has a long list of offers and tends to flip flop when it comes to naming leaders. Some days it’s Clemson. Other days it’s Miami or Ohio State. Sometimes, there’s no leader at all.
On Tuesday, the Rivals100 wide receiver took a broader approach. Asked to name a favorite, Williams came with a handful.
“I'm really Interested in Miami, Tennessee, Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama and Florida but all of those are equal,” Williams said.
Williams will become more set on a group of favorite schools as he explores. That process, it seems, is ongoing. If he gets his way, the coming six months will be full of travel.
“I'm trying to take a Alabama Visit for sure,” Williams said “Then, I want to visit Clemson. Ohio State Michigan and Florida.”
When asked which schools are in most frequent contact, Williams lists Pitt, Tennessee, Rutgers, Florida, Clemson Ohio State and Notre Dame. The upcoming offseason will be critical for Williams, who intends to enter his senior season as a committed prospect.
A four-star prospect at Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade Madonna High School, Williams is ranked as the No. 16 wide receiver and the No. 87 overall prospect in the class of 2018.
IN HIS WORDS: I'm looking for a family environment a great business program and I want to play early,” Williams said. “I think I'll have my decision by the spring before my senior season.”
RIVALS REACTION: Any guess works here. Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State and Miami seem like the most likely landing spots for Williams. Florida and Tennessee are certainly in play as well, but the types of seasons they have this fall will determine a lot. Williams’ recruitment should clear up a bit by the time winter arrives.
