On his mother’s birthday, Sean Dollars received an unforgettable gift - an offer from USC.
The 2019 four-star running back who recently transferred from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., to Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei visited USC over the weekend with a bunch of other top prospects and that’s when the offer came from the Trojans.
“It came by having a conversation with coach (Clay) Helton in his office, building a relationship and getting to know him as well as him getting to know my family,” Dollars said.
“It was a good day and I really felt like I touched with him and got a good connection and it is really big in my recruitment, most definitely one of my top schools.”
Over the last couple years, Dollars has gotten close with former Fontana (Calif.) Summit running back Stephen Carr through the Ground Zero 7on7 team. Carr is now at USC and that could play a factor in Dollars’ thinking.
The four-star running back has watched the Trojans closely and Helton described using him in the offense a lot like Carr and running back Ronald Jones.
“(Helton) said that I have the dynamics of Carr and (Jones) and he said that I remind him of a mix of both of them,” Dollars said.
Early in his recruitment, Dollars also has Washington and Florida State high on his list. Washington State, Mississippi State and Florida are his three newest offers.
