Four-star RB narrows to five

Columbia (S.C.) running back Mike Davis hasn't tipped his hand much at all during this recruiting season, but he did say that he now has a top five.
"It is down to Clemson, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky and Maryland," said Davis, who had recently talked about having a top seven. "I don't have a leader right now."

The 5-foot-10, 209-pounder recently competed in the Shrine Bowl where his rushing touchdown helped South Carolina win 35-21 over North Carolina in the all-star contest.
"It was a big honor to be in that game and take part," Davis said. "I was hearing from a lot of guys who had already committed. They were pitching their schools. There were some great players in the game."
Davis has already made official visits to North Carolina and Kentucky. He has a visit set up for Clemson on Jan. 14. Another visit had been set up for Alabama on Jan. 7, but that one is off.
"I'm not looking at Alabama any longer," Davis said.
Davis said he will be working at setting up his final two official visits soon to Maryland and South Carolina.
"I'm looking for a place I fit in that has good academics," Davis said. "Academics will be something I look at hard, along with the coaching staff and the players and what they are like."
Davis is the 11th ranked running back in the country and No. 8 player in the state of South Carolina.
