Four-star RB looking to set officials

Independence (Kan.) Community College running back Mike Harris does not have the number of options he would prefer heading into the final month of his recruitment. The 5-10, 205-pound back has interest from schools, but he'd like to see more offers on the table before making a decision next month.
"I've got one offer right now from Wyoming," Harris reported. "I am talking with KU, La. Tech, Oregon and Pittsburgh a little bit. La. Tech might be coming up with an offer real soon. I'm still waiting to see what KU is going to do too."

One of Harris' Independence teammates, four-star cornerback Dave Clark, has already made a commitment to Kansas and that fact appeals to Harris.
"He's trying to get me to come with him," Harris said. "I'm interested in the program and Dave's been pushing me since the season started, trying to get me to come to KU with him. If they offered me, I might look into them even more just because I know somebody down there."
This week, football recruiting has been pushed to the side while Harris and his Independence teammates mourn the loss of their head coach, Lamar James, who passed away last weekend. In the near future he will look at setting official visits with those schools offering that opportunity.
"I've just got to get with these coaches and set up my visits," Harris noted. "I talked to Memphis a couple weeks ago about coming down there, so I've got to call that coach back. I am probably going to end up visiting Louisiana Tech if they come through with what they are talking about. I've been to KU once, but not for an official visit, so I might go up there and see what they are talking about."
Harris played out his prep career at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, but he is open to going wherever the best opportunity lies.
"I'm going to be out [in December] and if time runs out I may just end up snatching one from whomever comes up with the first offer," he said.
Harris is the No. 24 junior college prospect in the country. He scored eight touchdowns this past season from the running back position for Independence.
