Four-star QB re-commits to Arizona

Braxton Burmeister is committed to Arizona – for good this time.

The four-star quarterback who had previously been committed to the Wildcats but reopened his recruitment in recent months has pledged again to the Pac-12 school. After touring campuses across the country, Burmeister came to the realization that Tucson was best for him.

“When I was up there I feel most comfortable with the coaching staff and the campus in general and the life there,” Burmeister said. “That’s where I feel most at home.”

Indiana, South Carolina, Utah and Washington had become other serious contenders for Burmeister, a four-star dual-threat quarterback who has put up huge numbers at La Jolla (Calif.) La Jolla Country Day.

He visited those campuses among others, but after a recent return trip to Arizona, Burmeister felt that the Wildcats offered everything he was looking for.

One thing that certainly stood out was Arizona’s fast-paced, spread offense, which seems to fit Burmeister perfectly.

“I feel like I fit really well in the offense,” Burmeister said. “Spread out, it lets me run and be athletic but there is also a lot of throwing and staying in the pocket, too. It’s the best of both worlds.”

Rated as the eighth-best dual-threat quarterback in the class, the only two players at that position in the top 10 left uncommitted are Las Vegas Bishop Gorman’s Tate Martell, who had previously been pledged to Washington and then Texas A&M, and San Clemente, Calif., recruit Jack Sears.

For Burmeister, stepping back from his initial Arizona pledge was important so he could objectively take a closer look at all the schools recruiting him.

Once he did that and took a bunch of visits, he realized everything he was looking for had already been found in Tucson.

“Just the overall feel you get when you go to each school,” Burmeister said. “All of them have great facilities and everything. It’s just like when you’re on campus can you really picture yourself there and that’s where I can picture myself the best.”
