Four-Star QB Has Clear Leader

Bennettsville (S.C.) Marlboro County quarterback Syvelle Newton has a clear leader. So when will he commit?
"As long as they stick by their promise to me, I'll stick by them." said the 6-foot-2, 210-pound four-star signal-caller.

And what is that promise?
"To be the starting quarterback as a freshman," he said. "As long as that looks like it will happen, I'll be a Gamecock."
However, Newton still wants to take a few official visits before making his final decision.
"I'm considering Miami, Florida State, Clemson and UCLA as well as a few others," he said. "I'll take a few trips and I'm sure I'll be at USC for quite a few games."
Newton and his team played their first game this weekend, a 34-13 win over Clover. The talented quarterback completed 5 of 9 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 194 more yards and two more scores.
