Four-star OLB Corey Kelly commits to Baylor after big official visit

After a big official visit this past weekend, Clear Falls (Texas) four-star outside linebacker Corey Kelly committed to Baylor on Tuesday night, via Twitter.

The relationship with Dave Aranda stood out from the moment that Baylor offered, and it was solidified over the weekend through multiple conversations.

"Baylor just felt like home ever since I got there," Kelly said. "Ever since I talked to Coach Aranda they always made me feel special and made it feel like home."

The official visit stood out because of the love he got from coaches, players and fellow commits.

"The hospitality from everyone," he said. "I got to hang out with the team on Saturday and I really kicked it with those guys, we really connected very fast. My guy [Christian Brathwaite] from Cy Ranch, [Trent Thomas] from Marshall. It was really just us three, we kicked it and said we'd lock it in together."

While Aranda is a defensive-minded head coach, it goes even further with Aranda being a specialist at the linebacker position, something that Kelly is excited to venture into.

"It's one of the reasons why I can't wait to get down there, just to get coached by Coach Aranda," he said. "His message to me this weekend was that Baylor is a family and that he wants be to be a part of the family."

Moving forward, Kelly is going to take it upon himself to start a movement of recruits from the Houston area to make their commitments to Baylor.

"I'm gonna try to get [Vernon Glover Jr.] from Dickinson, my cornerback from my school, Joshua Moore, I'm gonna try to get over and I gotta see who's not committed in 2023 in Houston to get them to come over," he said.

While Kelly will not early enroll, he will come into Waco next summer with what he says will be a winning attitude and work ethic.

"Baylor fans should expect a hard worker, a student-athlete first and a great player," Kelly said. "Somebody that can come in and be ready to work."

At 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, Kelly is the No. 20 ranked outside linebacker in the country and the No. 60 recruit from the state of Texas. He joins the Baylor 2023 class as the second-highest ranked commit and the second four-star pledge along with Austin Novosad.
