The 6-foot-3, 221 pound linebacker still has Texas in the lead.
"Texas is a great team and they need linebackers more than my other favorites, because they are going to graduate their top three linebackers this year, so I will have a great chance of playing early," he said.
"I really love the coaches there, the head coach and the position coaches are great."
However his commitment is not that solid.
"I'm still taking my visits," Smith said in reference to his commitment to Texas. "Yes, I've made a soft commitment to Texas. I'm going to take all five visits now."
He has an official visit to Alabama lined up for December 14th.
"The Southeastern Conference tradition, the fans interaction and support are great," Smith said about Alabama.
His other three official visits will probably be to Louisiana State, Florida and Oklahoma.
Louisiana State - "They need linebackers for next season very badly, so it would be a great chance to play early. They would be the second favorite behind Texas now and replace Miami on my visit list."
Florida – "Their style of play, head coach and attitude towards games. They never think they might lose a game."
Oklahoma – "It's closer to home and I really liked the atmosphere and they are the defending national champions."
