Four-star OL draws lots of attention

To no surprise, four-star Sandersville (Ga.) offensive lineman Seth Watts says the telephone has been keeping him busy the last two nights.
“I kind of figured things would be like this when September got here,” said the Washington County star. “Last night, I had about eight or nine calls. Georgia, Georgia Southern, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Auburn, Stanford, Duke, Vanderbilt and a couple of others all called me. BYU tried today, but I wasn’t home.”

Anything of note come from those conversations?
“Basically, they were all just wanting to touch base, ask me how school and my season was going so far, and to let me know that I still had a scholarship offer. They wanted to know if I was still interested in their programs,” Watts said.
Watts (6-5, 290, 5.1), rated the No. 16 offensive tackle in the nation by Rivals.com, said he’s got a pretty long list of schools still under consideration, but a current top five would consist of Georgia, Auburn, Florida State, Stanford and Notre Dame. He has offers from but the Fighting Irish.
“The big things I’m interested in are the people, first, and the academics,” he said. “All five of those are great schools for education, especially Stanford. But I know I’ll be in good hands no matter who I pick as far as that’s concerned. So I’m looking for somewhere I’ll feel comfortable around the coaches and players.”
Asked if a there was a leader among those five, Watts said. “If I had to pick one today, it would be the University of Georgia. I like a lot of things about them. But I’m trying to stay open-minded.”
Watts has yet to schedule any official visits, but has three games on his slate for unofficial visits. He’ll attend South Carolina’s game at Georgia on Sept. 13. He also has plans to watch Auburn’s game at Georgia on Nov. 15.
“Other than those, I just want to get to some of the area schools like South Carolina, Auburn and Florida State,” he said.
Watts opened his senior season last week with a bang. Washington County rolled to a 76-0 win over Johnson County in a game where they rushed for more than 400 yards and 10 touchdowns.
“I played pretty well,” he said. “I liked what I saw when we watched film. There were a few things that could have been better, but our whole line looked good. Our starting tailback had 165 yards in the first quarter. We took all of our starters out before halftime.”
Washington County plays Dublin this week.
As a junior, Watts graded out close to 89 percent and recorded 149 knockdown blocks.
In addition to his physical prowess, he’s also a stellar student with a 4.0 GPA and a 1010 on the SAT.
