Four-star Marquis Spiker talks Pac-12 pledge

MURRIETA, Calif. – Marquis Spiker is not 100 percent committed to Washington. It’s even better for the Huskies, if that’s possible.

“One-hundred-and-15 percent committed,” Spiker said after his Murrieta Valley team defeated Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian on Friday night.

No other official visits are expected and the four-star receiver who could be one of the best in the country said he’s not considering any other schools.

The next step for Spiker is to get even closer with some other Washington commits and that’s why next week the four-star will travel to Mission Viejo to spend some time with fellow Huskies pledge Austin Osborne and to watch his game.

So far, Washington has Spiker, Osborne, four-star Trey Lowe and three-star Devin Culp committed in an absolutely loaded receiver corps.

“It’s family up there,” Spiker said. “When I first went up there, when they first came and talked to me it just felt like family. It felt like home.

“We’re best friends. I’m going to go watch Austin’s game next week because we have a bye. I’ll go up and watch his game, say what’s up, stay at his house and get closer with him.”

Murrieta Valley bounced back from a loss two weekends ago in large part because of Spiker’s dominance in the 38-20 win over Oaks Christian where the four-star finished with six catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

“That was a really good football team and we’re a really good football team,” Spiker said. “We just came off a tough loss against a team we should’ve done way better against so this was a big win for us.”

The four-star standout said he plans to visit Washington – and only Washington – sometime in December.
