Four-star Mac Jones flips from Kentucky to Alabama

Mac Jones’ commitment to Kentucky went through its phases. It ranged from solid to shaky and back again in last couple of months alone. On Tuesday night, however, it fractured for good.

The four-star quarterback officially parted ways with the Wildcats and pledged his services to Alabama during a visit to Alabama on Tuesday evening. He informed the Alabama staff of his decision on site and that was that. The build was slow, sure, but the action itself was fast.

"I'm excited to be a part of such a great community and program," Jones said. "It has been a dream to play for coach Saban and the university of Alabama."

Jones change of heart comes in the middle of an offseason that has seen the Jacksonville (Fla.) Bolles star rack up numerous offers and take home a host of camp awards. He first visited Alabama on the heels of an offer from the Tide weeks ago, but had been considering a flip from Kentucky long before that. The second visit only helped solidify things.

"I threw for [Lane] Kiffin a little bit," Jones said. "Within, like, five minutes, I feel like they made up their minds that they wanted to go forward with it. After that, I went up to Coach [Nick] Saban's office. He told me I could take my time, but I went ahead and committed on the spot.

Now pledged to Saban and the Tide, Jones says he will shut down his recruitment and take no other visits. Jones feels he's found a home in Tuscaloosa, even if it took some time for him to settle in with the program.

"I just took my time and they took their time with me," Jones said. "I just felt like it's the best place for for me and the best fit for me."

Jones joins fellow four-star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in Alabama's 2017 class.
