Kirston Pittman originally thought he may be narrowing down
his list by this time of year. Instead, he's going the other direction.
"I've probably become more open," said the East St.
John standout, a member of the Rivals.com
Southeast
Top 100 team. "I've been trying not to force myself into a
corner or close of my thinking to any particular coach or team or
conference."
So what does that mean for his current outlook?
"Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Miami,
Florida State, LSU... they're all in the mix," he said. "Texas A&M, Oklahoma
State and Ohio State are, too. Ohio State's coming on real strong. I've been
impressed by them."
According to Pittman, he's received scholarship
offers from each team on his list.
If he's giving any clues, they may be in visits he'd
like to make. Pittman said two games he wants to see for certain are Notre
Dame-Florida State and Miami-Tennessee.
Through five games this season, Pittman (6-4, 225,
4.5) has helped lead East St. John to a 4-1 record. He's tallied 30 tackles,
three sacks, two interceptions (one for a TD), and one blocked punt (which
led to a TD).
He noted that his coach has been using him at free
safety this season, a position he's being projected to play by some of the
programs on his list.
"I can't remember exactly which ones off the top of
my head," he said, "but it's about 50/50 on outside linebacker or safety."
