Carnell Stewart has been a popular phone target this weekend.
"I've heard from a ton people today," said Stewart, a member of the Rivals.com
Southeast
Top 100 team and the No. 10 defensive tackle in the nation.
"Coach Zook (Florida) and coach Knox (Auburn) both called. I got a message
to call Michigan back. I wanted to do that and let them know that I'm still
interested."
Stewart (6-6, 297, 4.75) said he's considering LSU,
Michigan, USC, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State for his final two visits. He's
already scheduled Colorado (12/20), Florida (1/10) and Miami (1/24).
"I may not visit LSU because I've been there so many
times and I pretty much know everything about them," he noted. "Coach Saban
said he'd be coming to my house next Sunday. He'll be at our game next
weekend."
Is there a favorite in the works?
"I'm wide open," he said. "I couldn't even come
close to telling you right now. All of these schools are great. I'm just
going to try to focus in on things once our season is over and I get a
chance to see the schools up close on my visits."
Stewart has helped lead John Curtis Christian (13-1)
back to the state championship game. He's recorded 17 sacks, two blocked
field goals and two blocked punts.
On Jan. 5, he'll be playing in the All-American
all-star game in San Antonio, Texas.
