Four-star LB makes up his mind

Batesville (Miss.) South Panola linebacker Chris Herring has made up his mind, and he's staying close to home.
"He committed to Ole Miss last night," said South Panola coach Ed Stanley. "I just found out about it 5 minutes ago from Chris. He was really excited."

Herring picked the Rebels over Georgia, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Mississippi State and Tennessee. Stanley said he is in the process of helping Herring call the other schools and cancel the official visits that he had set up.
"It's a good fit for him," Stanley said. "His dad is over there, and now his entire family can come watch him play.
"Chris is a guy that really thinks things over, and I know that this wasn't a decision he made without talking with his family and thinking long and hard about it."
Herring is the No. 9 inside linebacker in the nation and a four-star selection by Rivals100.com.
