Four-star LB high on So.Miss, LSU

Southern Miss is making a strong push for one of the Magnolia State’s top prospects and one of the nation’s elite linebackers.
“I really like Southern Miss right now,” said four-star Vicksburg (Miss.) outside linebacker Rory Johnson. “I got to go down and see them when they played Nebraska and had a real good time. That was a good game. I liked the facilities and the people down there, so ever since then, they’ve been pretty high on my list.”

Johnson (6-2, 215, 4.4) is rated the No. 10 outside linebacker in the nation by Rivals.com. As a junior, he had 96 tackles, 10 sacks and five fumble recoveries. Through nine games this season, he has recorded 72 tackles, six sacks, eight forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries.
He’s drawn scholarship offers from LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, Nebraska, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Tennessee and West Virginia, among others.
“I don’t have any visits scheduled yet, but I’m definitely going to visit Nebraska, Southern Miss, LSU and Auburn,” Johnson said. “Those would probably be my top four. I’m still pretty high on LSU. I’ve always liked them. I’ll be able to tell you who my favorite is after I take all my visits.”
Johnson plans to visit LSU for an unofficial visit when the Tigers play Arkansas on Nov. 29.
Academically, he carries a 2.6 GPA and has scored a 17 on the ACT.
