Four-star LB headed to Cal

Chandler Leniu had been committed to Washington State. But as the recruiting process continued, the four-star linebacker yearned to be closer to home.
He found that home in Northern California - and Tuesday night the Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco standout made his commitment to Cal.

Leniu, a 6-foot, 225-pound inside linebacker, picked the Golden Bears soon after taking his official visit to Berkeley. He was looking for a new home, closer to home, and he found one.
"When I got up there it just felt like home," Leniu said.
"I really liked meeting the coaches, the atmosphere was great and the facilities they had to offer. Just the history and the background of Cal and their education is so well-known.
"Just being up there and spending time with some of the players was great. I had a great time on my visit."
Leniu, who helped lead Bosco to a state championship and undefeated season, liked a lot of things about Cal. He also sees an opportunity to possibly compete for early playing time.
Cal's defense needs all the help it can get and adding Leniu at linebacker could be a major step in the right direction.
"They told me I could come in and compete for my position and maybe come in and start," Leniu said. "They said I could help the defense out on my end anyway possible. Maybe I can come in and start."
