De’Gabriel Floyd is hitting the road this weekend. And it’s an important visit for the four-star linebacker from Westlake Village (Calif.) Westlake.

The former USC commit who reopened his recruitment in recent months is taking an unofficial visit to Texas.

Paying his own way in mid-February, it’s clear Floyd has a lot of interest in learning more about the Longhorns after talking often with the coaching staff in recent weeks.

“They haven’t been on me this past week or so, but a little while ago coach (Todd) Orlando came out here for the second time this year to see me and we had a cool talk so it feels good to know the value I have for them,” Floyd said.

The four-star linebacker has also talked with coach Tom Herman - and came away highly impressed.

“I’ve talked to coach Herman a few times and he’s a real cool, mellow type of guy,” Floyd said. “It sounds like it so I just can’t wait to meet him in person. I really just want to get a feel for the atmosphere on campus and hopefully talk to the rest of the coaching staff.”

At the recent Premium Showcase, Floyd said Auburn recently offered and after having a long talk with assistant coach Travis Williams the four-star linebacker said he’s highly interested in the SEC program.

TCU and Oregon are two other programs that are showing a bunch of interest in Floyd among many others. A commitment is not expected before his senior season.
