"I'm a Longhorn now," Smith, who is 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, said. "There were people calling me from UT, telling me good luck at Oklahoma and things like that.
"I realized that I might have made the wrong decision the first time when I committed to Oklahoma."
So Smith said he went ahead and called coach Chambers and Mack Brown earlier this afternoon and officially switched to Texas.
"I called coach Chambers and talked to him again today," Smith said. "He wasn't pressuring me or anything. I finally asked him, if I could change my mind, and if they would get mad at me if I did it. He said that I had to do what's best for me, no matter where I go.
"And what's best for me is Texas. I'm a Longhorn now."
