Four-star Julius Irvin: Notre Dame is high on my list

Julius Irvin had never been to Notre Dame before.

So this past weekend’s trip was important as the four-star defensive back from Anaheim (Calif.) Servite works through his recruitment.

Safe to say the entire trip impressed Irvin and the Irish will play a significant role in his thinking moving forward.

“It was a great visit,” Irvin said.

“I've never been to Notre Dame before so to see it firsthand was really amazing. I was impressed with the school all around and I really enjoyed my time with the coaches and players.”

Notre Dame is definitely a major contender in Irvin’s recruitment but the hard-hitting safety from Anaheim Servite is still going to take some other official visits before considering a decision.

One of the biggest reasons why the Irish are such a contender for the four-star standout is because Irvin loves the coaching staff’s vision – for how Notre Dame would utilize him on defense and what they’re trying to build in South Bend.

“ND is high on my list,” Irvin said.

“The coaches are trying to turn that place into a national championship team, with a monstrous defense and they want me to be a part of it.”

Two more crucial visits are coming up for Irvin, who is expected to take a trip to Washington this weekend when the Huskies host Fresno State.

The four-star is also looking to schedule a visit to Michigan but Irvin has not figured out a weekend yet.

Irvin has a top five of Notre Dame, Washington, Michigan, USC and Utah.
