Four star Juco LB is Pac 10 bound

San Francisco (Calif.) City College of San Francisco linebacker Desmond Bishop was in a very enviable position. He had narrowed his college choices down to three teams, all ranked among the nation’s top five, but in the end, the athlete decided to stay close to home.
“I committed to Cal,” Bishop said. “I had been leaning there for awhile but told the coaches on Monday that I was coming. I visited USC and loved it there. Oklahoma was also looking good and I was going to take a trip there too but in the end, I just knew Cal was the place for me and wanted to go ahead and end the process.

“I tripped to Cal two weeks ago and really felt comfortable with the program and what they have to offer. USC and Oklahoma are great programs but I just felt like Cal needed me a little more. I liked the idea of going to a school that is on the rise and helping them get over the top rather than go to a school that is already there.
“Plus at Cal, I have a great chance to play right away. They lose seven linebackers and they’re counting on me to come in and play right away. I have a good chance to start at inside linebacker for them and I’ll be graduating early so I can participate in spring ball which will help out a lot. When I looked at everything, it just became an easy decision for me.”
Bishop, 6-2, 240 pounds will have three years to play two for the Bears.
