Trey Chandler has three of his five official visits in place.
"I'll be at South Carolina on Dec. 13, Georgia on
Jan. 10 and Florida State on Jan. 17," said Chandler, a member of the Rivals.com
Southeast
Top 100 team and the No. 12 offensive tackle prospect in the
nation. "The other two, I'm not sure. I'd like to be able to take all five
visits, but it may just be three. Florida and Auburn would be my fourth and
fifth teams as of right now."
Chandler (6-6, 255, 5.2) acknowledged that the
Bulldogs and Seminoles continue to be co-leaders atop his list.
"Georgia may have a slight edge at No.1," he said.
"But it's real close, not by much at all. And South Carolina has been coming
on real strong in the last few weeks. They really want me bad, and I'm
definitely interested, so I'm going to go check them out on an official
visit."
Auburn may also be making a late push.
"I went down there on an unofficial visit to see the
LSU game a couple of weeks ago and loved it," he said. "They played great
that night (winning 31-7 over the defending SEC champions) and I was just
real impressed with the atmosphere. They've got great facilities, some of
the best I've seen. I liked how everything was set up there."
Through eight games this season, Chandler has led
Buford to an undefeated record and the No. 2 ranking in Class 2A. The team
has won 23 straight games and is trying to win back-to-back state titles
after moving up from Class A last season. Chandler has been dominant,
grading out at 96 percent on the season and recording 24 pancake blocks.
