Boston is gearing up for his first official visit, and the
destination may come as a surprise to some.
"I'll be going to UConn this weekend," said Boston, a member of the Rivals.com
Southeast
Top 100 team and the No. 8 weakside defensive end in the nation.
"They were down here at our house tonight, coach (Torrian) Gray, and I
really like him a lot. He says they're looking for players who want to come
in and take their program to the next level. They went 6-6 this past year,
and that was their first season as a D-I team, so I think their future is
pretty bright."
Boston (6-3, 225, 4.6) also has offers from some of
college football's traditionally elite teams: Alabama, Florida, Florida
State, Notre Dame and Ohio State, among others.
He said Ohio State and the three Florida powers
currently hold the edge for his other official visits. But Alabama, Boston
College, Iowa and Notre Dame are all making it a tough decision.
"I'm going to judge by who shows the most attention
during the next couple of weeks," Boston said.
Also a top baseball prospect, Boston said he's
leaning toward taking the college route, even if he's drafted high in June.
"My parents really want me to go to school, so I'm
not too worried about the draft," he said. "I'm focusing on going somewhere
I can play both sports and get a good education. I think that will be best
for everyone."
Boston had approximately 65 tackles and 12 sacks as
a senior at Bartow.
