Four-Star DT Names His Leader

The best defensive tackle in North Carolina and one of the best in the region says he has a leader.
“Right now my leader is North Carolina,” said 6-foot-3, 300-pound Isaiah Thomas from Belews Creek (N.C.) Carver. “I like a lot of schools, but UNC is standing out right now. I was treated really well at their camp, and I like their defensive line coach. It seems like they put out more great defensive linemen than anyone.”

Beyond North Carolina, he has a lot of offers from elite programs. Georgia, Nebraska, Michigan, NC State, Maryland and Oklahoma have offered him among many others.
“I’m also looking at South Carolina, NC State, Nebraska, Georgia, and Maryland. Coach Holtz is a great coach down at South Carolina, and I want to get down there sometime to meet him in person. If Miami were to offer, they would be really high on my list as well.”
Thomas has stayed in North Carolina this summer, camping only at Wake Forest and North Carolina. He does plan on camping at Georgia soon. He has taken unofficial visits to North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest, Duke, and East Carolina, and will take an unofficial visit to Tennessee as well.
Last season at Carver, Thomas made 50 tackles, seven sacks, and forced seven fumbles. He runs the 40-yard dash in 5.0 seconds, and that speed is evident on the field. So when will Thomas make his decision?
“I’m going to make my decision during my senior season. Probably in the middle of the year, or some time around then.”
