Four-star linebacker Breon Dixon waited until Sunday’s Under Armour All-America Game to reveal his college decision. The wait was worth it for Ole Miss fans. Dixon chose the Rebels over Louisville, TCU and others, a decision that is likely final as Dixon is set to enroll in classes later this month. Rivals.com caught up with him to break down his decision.

IN HIS WORDS

"I committed to Ole Miss because of the great relationship I have with Coach McGriff. That was a big-time decision by them and a major factor, I wanted to see who they were going to bring in as a defensive coordinator. When I was looking into it I really feel like Louisville had that edge over them, but when they hired Coach McGriff that changed. He’s like a father figure and he really looks out for his players and he has a plan for me. I feel like at Ole Miss I can come in and compete for playing time and maybe even start. The chance to do that at an SEC school is something that you can’t pass up on."

“I feel like they have a ton of young talent, especially on offense. If you look at guys like Shea Patterson, A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf, Tre Nixon – they have a ton of talent on the offensive side of the ball. They have talent on defense too, they are just young and need a few pieces and hopefully I can be one of those pieces. As we prepare and go through spring ball hopefully we can get it all straightened out and ironed out and I think we can be a better team this year."

RIVALS' REACTION

Linebacker is a position of need for the Rebels, and Dixon is a nice fit. With the changes on the defensive staff over the past month, landing Dixon while only having the dead period to work is a major win as well. The Rebels have always done a good job recruiting the Atlanta area and this is another important addition.
