Four-star DE watching the offers flood in

Oakland Park (Fla.) Northeast defensive end David Gilbert's recruitment has been on the up and up all spring. After picking up an early offer from UConn, more national names have continued to put dish out offers and Gilbert has five more recent ones to add to his list.
"I've got a lot of new offers," Gilbert said on Tuesday night. "Iowa State, Louisville, Purdue, Wisconsin and FAU. All of them are since Saturday. Iowa State offered me yesterday. Wisconsin offered me and Purdue offered me. They were at practice on Saturday"

Another major in-state program may not be far behind the diverse list of schools that have dished out offers.
"Florida was at practice and Coach Gonzalez said that he wanted to offer but couldn't without the position coach seeing me."
Gilbert has also gotten his fair share of phone calls during the evaluation period.
"Wisconsin has called, Louisville, Vanderbilt calls," he said. "The head coach Bobby Johnson called me yesterday and I was talking to him. The SEC schools, Big Ten schools, Big East schools are calling.
"I talk to Coach Partridge from Wisconsin a lot, the Purdue coach, Vanderbilt and South Carolina. I talk to South Carolina coach a lot. I call them a lot and UConn. I can't forget about UConn because they're my first offer."
At this point Gilbert is very open to the process but he does have a goal in mind of a decision date
"None stick out to me," he said. "I'm keeping a level head, keeping focused on my senior season. My thing right now is keep my options open. I'm planning on, if I make the US Army Bowl, to announce there. My first goal is to take my team to state and my second goal is to make the US Army Bowl and commit on TV."
On Wednesday, Gilbert's team will be playing Hollywood Hills in its Spring jamboree. Gilbert has been spending the majority of his time at defensive end, while moonlighting at tight end in goal line settings. Following his Spring game, Gilbert hopes to map our his schedule for the summer.
"I'm trying to plan my camps," he said. "I'm going to limit myself to about two or three camps: two in the North and one in the South or two in the South and one in the North.
"I'm definitely going to either Florida or UCF because they're close. I'll probably go to Vanderbilt and maybe Tennessee and South Carolina. In the North I may go to UConn and Wisconsin."
Though he has been getting attention from all over, Gilbert has one particular school that he would like to increase its attention.
"I really like Missouri but I haven't heard from anybody there," he said. "That's an up and coming school. I want to go to an up and coming school where I have a chance to play."
