Four-Star DE Takes Local Trip

Hampton (Va.) Bethel defensive end Chris Ellis took an unofficial visit this past weekend to one of his top five teams. So how did it go?
"I had a good visit because I learned a lot more about Virginia and the defense they play," said the 6-foot-5, 230-pound rush end who was at UVA this weekend. "I'm still a bit concerned by their 3-4 defense as a defensive end, but I saw in the second half that when it works, it works really well. If they play that way consistently, that looks like a good defense to play in."

That being said, Ellis still has the same leader after the weekend as he did beforehand.
"Virginia Tech is still on top with Virginia, Tennessee and Maryland right there as well," he said. "NC State is also on my list. I have most of my visits scheduled now."
Ellis is visiting Tennessee on Nov. 29, Virginia Tech on Dec. 13 and Virginia on Jan. 16. He was scheduled to take a trip to Maryland on Dec. 6 but he's taking the SAT that weekend instead. Maryland and NC State will get visits in January.
"Probably the first two weekends," he said. "I'll take a trip to Maryland for sure and maybe NC State. It's probably going to come down to Tech and Virginia, but I can't say that for sure until I take my officials."
In a 24-0 loss to Kecoughtan this past weekend, Ellis had 15 tackles, five for a loss and three sacks, his best game of the season so far.
