Mitchell (6-4, 245, 4.8) is rated the No. 11 strongside defensive end in the nation. He has scholarship offers from LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Auburn and Southern Miss.
"My favorites are LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Nebraska," he said. "They're all about equal right now. I'll find out more about them when I make my visits, but I like those schools a lot. They're all looking good."
The Cornhuskers have yet to make an official offer, but Mitchell says he's received indications that they will. He plans to watch Nebraska in person when he makes an unofficial visit to Southern Miss on Sept. 25.
Mitchell's Long Beach squad is off to a 2-0 start this season. In his first game as a senior, he recorded 10 tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery. He's yet to receive his stat sheet for the second game.
As a junior, Mitchell recorded 72 tackles and 10 sacks. Academically, he maintains a 3.1 GPA and has scored an 18 on the ACT.
