The end is near for one of the best in Alabama.

The 6-foot-4, 220 pound edge rusher out of Auburn (Ala.) will commit to Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU or Texas A&M next week.

Who will it be for Mohamoud Diabate?

"My mind is made up. I know where I am going and I will announce it August 22," said Diabate. "There is no real meaning behind it being the 22nd. Our first game is August 24, so it is a big week and I wanted to get it done before the season, so that date seemed like a good time."

Diabate has visited each of his finalists at least once except for Texas A&M. He has a strong relationship with Dameyune Craig, so that has put the Aggies in this race as it winds down.

He has visited Alabama and Auburn around half a dozen times each. Each in-state school has given him a lot to think about.

"With Alabama, they have a great nutrition program, they have an elite weight program and I feel they could really develop me into a great player.

"If I chose Auburn, I would be able to stay home and that would be huge for me and my family. I feel like I could fit into Auburn's scheme very well too."

Florida has had the four-star defensive end on their campus once and LSU has hosted him once. It is the connection with the coaches in Gainesville and Baton Rouge that draw him to those schools.

"I love coach Ed Orgeron at LSU," said Diabate. "He has so much energy. I got to watch him at practice and I like the way he coaches and the way he pushes his players.

"Florida has coach Sal Sunseri and coach Todd Grantham and I have a connection with both of them. I like the defense they are going to run too."

The common them in the finalists is defensive scheme. Diabate feels he can excel in any of the five defenses. Each school likes him as a stand-up linebacker who can rush the passer.

He has been in contact with each school on a regular basis the last few months, but his mind is made up and he can't wait to make it public.

"I am excited," said Diabate. "I have felt this way for a while, but I wanted to take my time, think it over and I know where I am going. I have talked it over with my parents and I will be choosing the school I feel I fit in best at."
